Yum! So I saw The Centre St cafe on Facebook all the time, and I just so happened to be in the neighborhood today, so... decided to try it out! Must be Kismet, because the parking lot was packed (and the street nearby) but I got the only spot available. I had to wait a bit because it was FULL. Good sign! Got a spot within a 5 minute wait. Ordered quickly because I checked out the menu online. Ordered The Vinny, with the very friendly waitress. Got my food within 15 minutes (maybe less). No problem subtracting items from the Vinny. While I waited I noticed several things. The artwork on the walls, the customers, and the staff. Artwork is fun! Customers were smiling, STAFF WAS SMILING! The food was great (though I did not care for the chips and salsa (instead of the bean dip I requested the salsa) but I did recognize that it is QUALITY salsa. The Vinny is so packed with meat that I could barely fit my mouth around it! it comes hot (which I normally prefer) but I just now ate the other HALF of the sandwich COLD, and it was SO YUMMY! So hot or cold, it was good stuff. Seriously, even though it's a bit more expensive, this gives you enough for two meals (IMO).Basic takeaway, the AMBIANCE made this a great experience for me, and I WILL come again (and suggest it to others), and the food I got it good. I do love that they offer unusual items on the menu, as well (even if I don't try it, it sounds like good stuff!).read more

I think I caught them at the end of their lunch rush as things seemed a bit hectic inside, but even so, my order was... ready quick and the staff was mostly friendly. The real star of the experience was obviously the food though. Very creative and super tasty sandwiches, and for a reasonable price too.read more

I LOVE Centre Street Cafe. They have a large menu, and all of the food is always delicious. The staff is super... friendly. Today, I was waiting for a to-go order - they were super busy and I waited for only an extra 5 minutes probably. The cashier apologized for the wait (which wasn't a big deal at all!) and offered a free cookie on my way out, which was super nice. I just wish they were open on weekends as well. One of the greatest places to eat in TC, for sure.read more

This is the best kept secret in Traverse City. Foodies be prepared to be blown away by the atmosphere's simplicity,... juxtaposed by the food's complexity. I have been going here for 15 years and it is still a must stop for lunch. Enjoy.read more

I love this place! I’ve been here a few times and they never disappoint. Even after moving downstate to Detroit, their... standards still hold up. Always so fresh and I enjoy getting chips and bean dip instead of the usual fries as a side with your wraps. Their Cherry Chicken Salad is always amazing too.read more

This was my first time visiting Centre Street Cafe. This is basically a little known sandwich shop/ diner. The staff... was polite and professional. We ordered our sandwich, cookie and soup to go for take out. Everything was made quickly and to our order. In all a very pleasant first visit. We had the Bay Sandwich that was on special, which was a whitefish sandwich. The sandwich was panini style and was excellent. Great work Centre Street Cafe!read more

Great soup and sandwich shop, they have other things like tacos, pasta salads, mac and cheese, I usually stick with... soup and salad. Everything is always fresh and delicious. I love the mushroom soup. The staff is always very nice and quick to greet you. This is a hidden gem in TC, a little off the beaten path, but a great place.read more
